Mathew Forde - Partner

Mathew Forde

Mathew is the founding partner of Forde Campbell LLP. Born in Belfast in 1967 Mathew graduated from Edinburgh University in 1989 and the College of Law London in 1993. Mathew qualified in English law and practised in London with the City law firm Lawrence Graham until 2001. In 2002 he returned to Northern Ireland and was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court in Northern Ireland and practised for four years as a senior in-house lawyer in the pharmaceutical industry before returning to private practice and setting up Fordelaw in 2006.

Mathew acts for a range of commercial clients in media and entertainment, manufacturing, R&D, on-line services, IT, retail, and shipping. He also has extensive experience in advising industry on best practices for policing its IP and in acting for clients involved in IP litigation; in particular, trade secret / breach of confidentiality cases and patent infringement / invalidity cases. Mathew has acted for clients in the UK in hearings before the High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords / Privy Council. He also has extensive experience in litigating IP cases overseas (in particular, in the US (New York), Canada and New Zealand).

Rory Campbell
   

Born in Belfast in 1967 and educated at Cambridge University and the College of Law London, Rory qualified in English law and practised in London with the international City law firm Trowers & Hamlins until July 2007. In September 2007 Rory returned to Northern Ireland to join Fordelaw. He was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court in Northern Ireland in 2007.

Rory has acted for a range of suppliers, including service suppliers and licensors, and also public and private sector clients acting as customers including PLCs, private companies and individuals, central government departments, non-departmental public bodies, local authorities, housing associations, chartered institutes and national charities. In particular, Rory has significant experience of deals with software developers and suppliers, resellers, IT consultancy and support services suppliers, website developers and hosting companies, ICT infrastructure outfitters, VOIP, dark fibre and general telecoms suppliers.

Rory is a member of the Society for Computers and Law, and is co-author of the Intellectual Property Rights chapter of Local Government Contracts and Procurement (2nd edition, Tottel 2007).
